National Christian Homeschool Basketball Championships Oklahoma City

Hey Everybody!!

How's it going?? I'm doing pretty well. We got home around 12:30am this morning from OKC.
I'm going to do a post right now about the games and I'll do another post hopefully tonight yet.

On Monday the WCHSA Royal Eagles Varsity boys beat the Metro Academy Mavericks 66 to 56
and the WCHSA Varsity girls team beat the MHEA Eagles 36 to 35.

On Tuesday the WCHSA Varsity Boys lost to the Huntington Eagles 50 to 41 and the WCHSA Varsity girls lost 42 to 21 to the Austin Royals. The boys were seeded as the 4th seed in 5A (second best bracket) and the girls as the 1st seed in 5A bracket.

The first two games are to figure out which bracket you belong in. So both teams ended up in the top 16 teams of the tournament.

On Wednesday they both had off. Zack and I left for OKC at 8pm with friends Kyle and Daryle Voglemann and Isaiah Gumness.

Thursday we arrived in Oklahoma City around 10:30am and met the teams during devotions. That afternoon we saw the Varsity girls lose a close game 44 to 38 against the Cincinnati Eagles. Then that night the Varsity boys lost a heartbreaker 56 to 54. They came back from a 12 point halftime deficit, and fell just short.

Friday afternoon the girls lost to the Indianapolis Trailblazers 59 to 50. It was close for most of the game, but they couldn't pull it out. Friday night the boys played the Faulkner Co. Falcons, and the Eagles soared to a 63 to 49 victory.

Saturday the Varsity girls played another hard game and fell short 57 to 49 to the Tulsa Jaguars. One of their seniors broke her nose early in the game and (obviously) wasn't able to come back. They really played a good game but fell short. The Varsity boys on the other hand cruised to a 57 to 44 win over the Dallas Thunder. Senior Jordan Schneider had 22 points and 20 rebounds in his final game!!

I took stats for the boys games (the 3 I was there for) and am going to put up the players averages (per game).

Luke Newhouse 0.7 points 0.3 rebounds
Nate Gumness 4.7 points 3.7 rebounds 1.7 assists 1 block
Daniel McCulloch 13 points 3.7 rebounds 1 steal
Brant Anderson 1 point 1 rebound
Ben Gumness 4 points 4 rebounds 1.3 assists 3.7 steals
Jared Schneider 0.3 points 1.3 rebounds
Peter Giove 2.7 points 0.7 rebounds
Jordan Schneider 16.7 points 11.7 rebounds 1.7 assists 1 steal 2 blocks
Tyler Koepke 8.3 points 5.3 rebounds 2 assists 2.7 steals
Josh DeSchmidt 6.3 points 5 rebounds 1.3 assists 2 steals 1.3 blocks

They outscored their opponents 173 to 149 for an average of 57.7 points to 49.7 points.

I won't put all of the individual game stats for all the player's cause it would take up ALOT of time. I had alot of fun keeping stats for the boys, and cheering loudly for both boys and girls games.

Anyway, I'll try to post again soon with all of the non game highlights of the time out there. I would post pictures if I could, but I didn't want to be responsible for our camera and risk losing it so I don't have any pictures.

Well, God Bless for now,
Isaac Klahn

Please pray for Anja

Hey guys,

It sure has been an interesting morning. Mom and I just got home from taking Anja into the Emergency Room. This morning she was in the bathroom with some of her sisters (will remain anonymous) and she climbed up on to the sink/counter. She was accidentally bumped and fell backwards onto the floor.

That's some good cream cheese!!

She was crying ALOT, and that is very rare for her. So we brought her to Mom, and she wouldn't put any weight on her left leg. So Mom called our Family Dr. and he suggested bringing her in to have it looked at. So we took her in to the ER and had some X-rays done, and found out that she has a small fracture in her tabula, and in the fibula behind it. It is a normal injury for toddlers between 1 & 2 years old. It will take approx. 8 - 12 weeks to heal. Right now she has a splint on it and will get a hard cast on Tuesday, from the same Dr. that Zack and I went to. Right now she can't put any weight on it and has to keep it elevated, which for her will be REALLY hard. She likes to be on the go all the time.

So if you can be praying for her for quick healing, it would be GREATLY appreciated. It's hard to see her in pain like this. I know what it's like having had it myself, and it wasn't fun @ 11, let alone 1 & 1/2.

Anyway, Thanks for all of your prayers!!
God Bless,
Ike

Another Update!!

Hey Everyone!! How's it been going?

Guess what??? I've been procrastinating again!! I've been thinking about posting for a while.

Anyway, last Thursday night(the 31st), we played a basketball game down in Beloit. We lost by 5 points. Zack had 14 points, Josiah (our point guard #3) had 20 points, I didn't score. I was walking in the flesh and I didn't have much fun. The drive home took a lot longer than it normally does. The roads were snow covered and slick. Praise the Lord we got home safely!!

The Jefferson County Hawks Varsity

The following night we played the SWCHA Saints JV team in Waukesha. This game I was walking in the spirit and playing for HIS glory instead of my own, and i had a blast!! I only scored 4 points, but I gave everything I had and had fun. If this was the last game I play, the play I will remember most is getting a block on a fast break. In the first game I played, I caught up to a guy on a fast break and came close to blocking it. It just goes to show that if you hustle and play hard, you will get rewarded eventually.

That night, Mom and Ali went to Illinois to pick up her pen pal from Kansas. They didn't get home until 12:30am and I had fallen asleep on the couch. To my utmost surprise, her brother(my former penpal) Noah, came along!! We had never met before, and it was REALLY fun having him here. We stayed up until 1:30am talking.

Saturday morning we went out to eat at the Golden Corral as a family. It was a Christmas gift from Mom and Dad. Saturday afternoon we taught Noah some square dance moves. We had taught his sister (Elizabeth) some moves a couple years ago and took her to convention. Anyway, we went to a square dance that night with them, and some friends. It was a REALLY fun dance!! It was the first one we'd been to in over 2 months. Noah did an AWESOME job for having learned only about half the moves that afternoon.

Sunday we had to work. After work that night, we watched iRobot with our new clearplay dvd player. It was a really cool movie with all the swear words taken out. After the movie we stayed up until 2:30 am talking.

Monday I had a eye exam. Everything was good. My eyes have gotten only a little bit worse in 2 years which is really good. When we got home we found out that we had to take Noah and Lizzie back to Illinois to meet their sister, earlier than planned. They were originally going to go home Tuesday morning, but because of the weather they wanted to leave early. We met their sister @ 5:30pm. It was really foggy. During the 3 nights they were here, I figured out I only got about 14 or 15 hours of sleep!! I can go on little sleep for a while, but eventually i have to catch up.

Tuesday and Wednesday were normal days.

Thursday we had basketball practice. We were helping to get our 7th and 8th grade(Undefeated team) team ready for a tournament coming up.

Yesterday was a normal day.

Today we had basketball practice. Ali's former piano teacher had a wedding today. Ali helped out and was gone from 2pm to 9pm.

Tomorrow afternoon we are probably going to a square dance down in Beloit. One of our favorite callers, and a couple others are going to be calling 3 different levels of dancing. It should be fun!!

Anyway, a REALLY long update!!
God Bless!!

Almost a month!!

How's everybody doing?? Well, here is the promised post, a bit of an update after almost a month.

Last thursday night on the way home from basketball practice the roads were slippery, so I tested them 3 or 4 times with in the first 10 miles and it was fine. Then the roads looked like they got worse, so I decided to try the roads again. I started to ease on the brake and the back end of the car spun into the middle of the road. I fought it back and forth and was sure we were going to end up in the ditch, when we hit a dry spot and the car straightened out. PRAISE GOD!! I am really thankful I had the car, because we almost had to take our 15 passenger van, which would have been alot worse.

Saturday afternoon we played the SWCHA Saints JV team and lost by 9 points. Zack was our only reserve off the bench and he wasn't feeling well with a cold and fever. It was a fun game!! Our last two games are next Thursday(31st) night in beloit, and next Friday(1st) against the Saints in Waukesha. Hopefully our Coach can get some more games scheduled.

Saturday night a friend, Paul from the UP and I went to a Ricky Skaggs concert in Hartford Wi. It was awesome!! After the concert we got his autograph, a picture with him(my sister posted it on her blog), and autographs from most of his band members. It was alot of fun!!

Sunday we watched the first part of the Packer game. Then we had to go to work at the farm, & had a little TV in the parlor with the volume turned up. It was an exciting finish with the Packers on the short end of the stick. It was kind of disappointing initially, but it's only a game, and it was a GREAT season for Brett Favre and the Pack.

Monday was work in the morning and night.

Today I went with dad to a calving presentation by a local Veterinarian. I learned some stuff, although alot I'd already learned on the job with dad.

Anyway, I pray this finds everyone resting in the spirit, and trusting in his control!
God Bless you all!!

Merry CHRISTmas & Happy New Year!!

From left to right(back row): Zachary (15), myself (16), Aliisa (18),
(middle row) Dad holding Anja (1&1/2), Mom holding Jacob (4months)
(front row) Elsie (3), Grace (5), Emmelia (7), Aleksandra (9).

A Belated MERRY Christmas Everyone!! Happy New Year!!
Here is a picture of the wonderful family I am blessed to be a part of!! There aren't any of them I can imagine life without. People may think we're crazy, but we love it!!

It may be a little late for Christmas, but Away in the Manger is one of my favorite songs. Christ's earthly birthday is an event to celebrate all year round, not just one day. While it is a time of gift giving, family & cheer, Jesus has paid the price for eternal life for each & every person, all we have to do is accept his gift of grace. Thank you Jesus!!

I'll hopefully do a update later, for now this'll have to do.
God Bless!! & Merry CHRISTmas!!

A Long overdue update

Hey Everybody!!

How's it going with all of you?? We've got around a foot & six inches of snow right now!! Last tuesday we were supposed to get around 1-2 inches of snow with alot of sleet. Well we got 8 inches of snow and barely any sleet. We had our basketball game @ Mountain Top in Horicon canceled because of the weather.

Anyway, last sunday My dad, zack and I met my Uncle (from the UP) in Green Bay to go to the Packers blowout 38 - 7 over the Oakland Raiders. We got to the Parking lot early & tailgated for a bout 1 & 1/2 hr. It was Fun!! It was crazy trying to get into the Stadium before the game started. We thought 1/2 hr would be enough time, but we didn't get to our seats until the second half of the first quarter. It was a close game until half time (14 - 7), but the Packers blew it wide open in the second half. Running Back Ryan Grant, Quarterback Brett Favre(who's that??:), Wide receiver Greg Jennings & Special Team guy Tramon Williams all had good games. When we first got to our seats the sun was out & shining on us & it was REALLY warm, but then the clouds & the wind came & cooled it off. I was warm for the whole game except for my toes were frozen. It was alot of fun!!

This weekend we have a basketball tournament in Horicon. We play @ 8pm tonite against the Waukesha Knights (a homeschool team) and if we win & the SWCHA Saints (another Waukesha homeschool team) win (or us lose, & they lose) we would play them. Anyway we play one game tonight & two games tomorrow no matter what happens.

Well, I gotta run, really busy today!!
God Bless everyone!!
Merry Christmas!!
Ike
